Benuanta Creative Works Festival in Tarakan

To ensure the success of the 2023 National Movements (Gernas)—specifically "Proud of Indonesian-Made Products" (BBI) and "Proud to Travel in Indonesia" (BBWI)—the government organized the Benuanta Creative Works Festival in Tarakan, North Kalimantan, under the theme "United in Benuanta Harmony." The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kemkominfo) was appointed as a co-campaign manager, collaborating with the Provincial Government and Bank Indonesia, who served as the campaign manager.
Celebrated over two consecutive days, the Benuanta Creative Works Festival opened with the "Rutantara" welcoming dance. The event featured three distinct stages: one for the opening ceremony, a Literacy Stage for the "Rupiah in Diction" session, and the "Bincang QReative" stage, which hosted the "Milenial Paham Finansial" talk show.

To conclude the first day, several bands collaborated with dance troupes to deliver spectacular performances. On the second day, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, opened the event with a keynote speech delivered via video. He noted that since the launch of the Gernas BBI (National Movement for Proudly Indonesian-Made Products), approximately 22.68 million MSMEs had been onboarded by June 2023.
“Gernas BBI has also successfully driven an increase in government spending on domestically produced goods. Through the e-catalog procurement system, local MSMEs, small industries, and artisans have the opportunity to access the government market,” said Luhut.
In her remarks, Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti explained that the Karya Kreatif Benuanta Festival is an annual event representing a synergy between Bank Indonesia, the central government, and local governments aimed at advancing North Kalimantan province.
As the host, North Kalimantan (Kaltara) province continues to promote the use of local products and the consumption of local food. Zainal explained that civil servants and various government agencies in the province are required to wear Kaltara batik and the singal—a traditional Kaltara headpiece—as a tangible show of support for local products. During the post-event press conference, Zainal highlighted local products that are sources of pride for the province, such as Krayan rice (an organic variety grown without chemical fertilizers), Krayan milkfish, and Krayan salt (a specialty salt from the Krayan Highlands). It is hoped that these products will continue to be developed as key commodities for the region.
To support food security and the empowerment of MSMEs, the Festival Karya Kreatif Benuanta also featured the presentation of Bank Indonesia Social Program (PSBI) aid and the announcement of the winners of the GBBI MSME Champion competition.
As part of the culminating events—or the "harvesting" phase—of the Gernas BBI (National Movement for Proudly Indonesian Products) campaign, a Digitalk forum was held the day prior (August 19). Centered on the theme "Halal Certification to Boost MSME Product Competitiveness," the forum raised awareness about the role of business permits and the importance of halal certification in enhancing product quality and meeting consumer needs.
On the second day of the *Festival Karya Kreatif Benuanta*, the event concluded with a performance by ADA Band, which drew an enthusiastic crowd eager to enjoy the festival's lively atmosphere.
