Global Blockchain Investment Summit

The Global Blockchain Investment Summit serves as a gathering place for blockchain sector players, traders, experts, and scholars to discuss the future development of the blockchain industry. Held from July 29 to 30, the Global Blockchain Investment Summit (GBIS) was organized by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), the Global Blockchain Investment Alliance, the Hong Kong Blockchain Association, and the Blockchain Center of Excellence and Education (BCEE), in collaboration with other investment firms and relevant government agencies. As the premier blockchain conference hosted by the Hong Kong Blockchain Association, the event drew thousands of attendees to the two-day summit at the Ritz-Carlton, Pacific Place, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Indonesian leaders, members of the UN Blockchain Committee, members of the UAE royal family, and representatives from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Investment attended the summit to discuss the transformative impact of blockchain on the digital economy from the perspectives of government governance and global economic development. Participants included the Blockchain Application & Economic Forum (BAEF), the World Token Issuing Alliance (WTIA), the Asia Blockchain Alliance, the Indonesian Blockchain Association, and other authoritative alliances, alongside trading platforms such as Huobi Indonesia and BitTok; distributed commercial representatives like IPSE (search engine), BitCherry (distributed e-commerce), and Engine Miner; and blockchain media platforms BitDesk and Cyber Media. Together, they collaborated to build a comprehensive blockchain ecosystem and help accelerate Indonesia's digital economic transformation.

Global Blockchain Investment Summit Agenda

On the first day of the Global Blockchain Investment Summit on July 29, three key figures—Rico Rustombi (Vice President for Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Rosan Perkasa Roeslani (President of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), and Bambang Brodjonegoro (Indonesia's Minister of National Development Planning)—delivered opening speeches outlining their vision for enabling Indonesia's economic transformation through blockchain and their commitment to achieving Industry 4.0. The Chairman of the SGtech Blockchain Committee signed an agreement to contribute to Indonesia's economic transformation. During a panel discussion titled "How Blockchain and Distributed Trade Drive Indonesia's Economic Transformation," Siti Ariyanti Adisoediro (Director of the Standing Committee on Regulations, Government Partnerships, and Inter-agency Relations at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Yuliot (Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board/BKPM), and Steven Suhadi (President of the Indonesian Blockchain Association) all noted that blockchain and distributed trade would serve as the digital economic infrastructure of the future and drive robust economic growth in Indonesia for at least the next two decades.

Global Blockchain Investment Summit

In another panel discussion regarding the impact of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency on the global financial ecosystem, Elisa Lumban Toruan—Director of the Standing Committee on Information and Communication Technology and Logistics at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin)—stated that the decentralization and credibility of financial systems built on blockchain technology and utilizing cryptocurrency as a store of value can overcome the drawbacks of traditional financial ecosystems. She noted that this shift would drive the evolution of the global financial ecosystem and empower the development of distributed commerce. Distributed commerce stands to empower all segments of society and represents one of the most promising growth areas; indeed, distributed e-commerce is poised to disrupt and surpass traditional e-commerce.

On July 30, the Global Blockchain Investment Summit focused on discussions regarding distributed commerce. Professor Zhu Jiaming, President of the China Institute of Digital Assets and a renowned economist, delivered a keynote address highlighting that the significance of encrypted digital currencies lies in breaking the absolute monopolies held by modern states and restoring monetary sovereignty—thereby fostering decentralization and creating new patterns of wealth. With the emergence of blockchain technology and the rise of distributed commerce in recent years, traditional industries have gained new avenues for growth. The digital economy, characterized by blockchain and distributed commerce, has entered an advanced stage of development, paving the way for the full-scale arrival of the digital economy.
