SCMP : The China Conference Southeast Asia Serves as a Bridge for the Exchange of Insights

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) officially hosted the China Conference Southeast Asia 2026 in Jakarta. Attended by approximately 500 participants from Indonesia and across the region, the event marked 75 years of China-Indonesia relations and highlighted Indonesia's increasingly vital role in shaping regional economic cooperation ahead of APEC 2026 in Shenzhen.
The conference is the result of a partnership between SCMP and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), aiming to serve as a bridge for the exchange of insights among China, Indonesia, and Southeast Asia, while connecting policymakers, business leaders, and investors through meaningful dialogue and collaboration.

This SCMP conference focuses on Indonesia's role as a strategic regional economic hub for investment, supply chain resilience, and economic diplomacy, highlighting Hong Kong as a strategic economic partner for Indonesia. Hong Kong maintains a special economic partnership with Indonesia, with bilateral trade valued at approximately USD 6.5 billion and investments totaling USD 10 billion in the country over the past few years.
